ZAUBERKÖNIG conjures up the 2,000th win for coach Peter Schiergen on his annual debut

Racing for the Liberty Racing 2023 Kings syndicate, Zauberkönig kept the Derby dream alive for his owners on his annual debut in Duesseldorf today. With a brilliant ride, Sibylle Vogt guided the Teofilo-son, who had placed in his two starts as a two-year-old, to a narrow victory in the Breffka & Hehnke Cup run over 2200 m, where the colt showed plenty of fighting spirit and prevailed by a head after a thrilling final battle. This victory tastes particularly sweet as it marks the   2,000th win for Zauberkönig's trainer Peter Schiergen.

Zauberkönig could next bring his magic to Italy. If all goes according to plan, he could start in the Premio Emanuele Filliberto on May 3 and then head for the Italien Derby, a route that has worked very well for Winning Spirit (Liberty Racing 2021) two years ago.
